You will remain fully clothed for a Thai massage, so you should wear clothing that is comfortable and can stretch easily.

No oils or creams are used, pressure is applied all along the energy lines in the body. Passive stretching will be incorporated.

Key Differences

Equipment and Positioning: Thai massages are performed on a floor mat to allow a complete range of motion, with therapists using their entire body for the massage. In contrast, regular massages are typically performed on a massage table using hands, fists, forearms, and elbows.

Wear as much or as little clothing as you'd like during the massage. When it's time for your appointment, feel free to take off some, all, or none of your clothing. Most people dress down to their underwear for the first time, while others are completely fine being naked under the massage blanket.

Should I undress completely for a Thai massage? No, you undress but keep your underwear on. Women have the option to remove their bra if comfortable, or leave it on for more comfort.

The massage itself begins with you laying down on the ground and ends sitting up. Beginning with your feet, slowing working up, ending with the skull. This style of massage includes therapy over your arms, hands & feet, neck & back, stomach, buttocks, and the area around the breasts.

“Thai massage combines passive stretching and yoga poses with Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine practices,” explains licensed massage therapist and registered nurse DeBorah Hill, RN, LMT. “It's an ancient form of healing — not a fitness activity or means of relaxation.”

Trained massage therapists can adjust the intensity and pressure to suit their clients. However, a person should avoid Thai massage while recovering from an injury. Even at the lowest intensity, Thai massage can sometimes cause further injury to the body.

Thai Massage is a yoga-style treatment, applying medium to hard pressure with some stretching. Swedish Massage is a relaxing oil massage, apply softly to medium pressure. Deep Tissue Massage is a slow deep pressure on a specific area of the body. We also offer all combines in one session.
