Back in February, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' father was hit with his third DWI charge after being arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The 53-year-old was placed behind bars over the weekend due to the charge.

The charge, a third-degree DWI or more, specifies, "After two DWI convictions, a third DWI offense (habitual DWI) is a Third-Degree Felony. The maximum fine is $10,000.00, and the maximum prison sentence is 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) penitentiary."

"A conviction for a third DWI will result in a minimum prison sentence of two years and a maximum of ten years in prison (not a county jail). Even if you are granted probation, you will have to serve at least ten days in jail as part of a plea agreement. This usually cannot be waived," it further states.

According to a filing, Mahomes has officially been charged with a third-degree felony and awaits a trial.

Prior to his arrest in 2024, Mahomes was arrested back in 2018 for a second driving while intoxicated, according to jail records. He served a 40-day sentence on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020.

Due to his multiple arrests, Mahomes has several mugshots in the system.

According to reports, the 53-year-old was driving with an open 16-ounce Coors beer when he got pulled over by the police.

Per the affidavit obtained by NYP, Mahomes agreed with the cops to undergo Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He allegedly showed four signs of intoxication during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus eye test, two clues during the One Leg Stand, and five clues during the Walk and Turn test.

"Based on the totality of the circ*mstances," the officer stated, citing probable cause, "I believed Patrick was impaired to a perceptible degree while operating a motor vehicle in a public place."

During a regular police patrol, his car was observed to be traveling more slowly than other vehicles in the vicinity. When the police checked his vehicle's registration, they found that it had expired in 2022.

The Chiefs Quarterback's Reaction To His Father's Arrest

Following his father's arrest in February, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was asked about the incident, especially as it happened too close to his team's big Super Bowl game.

"He's doing good," Patrick said of the arrest during Super Bowl 2024 Opening Night, per NYP. "Don't really want to get into it too much, but he's doing good for whatever the situation is."

"It's a family matter, so I'll keep it to the family. That's really all I'll say at this point," the footballer added.

Before Patrick's father's arrest, his younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, was charged with three felonies for an incident that occurred last February. Jackson allegedly grabbed a woman by the neck and kissed her three times without her consent.

However, in early January 2024, he was cleared of three felony charges.

"Like I said from the beginning, Jackson has done nothing wrong," Jackson's attorney Brandan Davies said at the time, per ET. "We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed. The defense will reserve further comment until the remaining count is disposed of."

Although Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens filed a motion to dismiss the three counts of sexual battery charges against Jackson, he still had a misdemeanor battery charge to deal with.

In March, the 23-year-old pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to six months of probation.

The alleged incident happened at the Overland Park, Kansas, suburb of Kansas City, at the Aspens Restaurant and Lounge.

According to investigators, Jackson shoved a server who attempted to enter the room where he and Aspen Vaughn, the owner of the restaurant, were. Prosecutors alleged that when the waiter left, Jackson grabbed Vaughn and gave her three unwanted kisses.

Jackson's attorney claimed that the 23-year-old "has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed."

Vaughn, for her part, reportedly refused to testify in the case.
